How your calorie and macro targets work
Your targets start as a calculation and get better with your own data. Here's what's going on behind the numbers.

Where your targets come from
Bene estimates your daily energy needs from your body stats and activity level, then adjusts for your goal: below it to lose, above it to gain. Your diet style decides how the calories split between protein, carbs and fat.
It's an estimate. Real bodies differ, which is why the targets keep checking themselves against your logs.
Choosing a pace
When you pick a target weight, you choose how fast to get there. Bene shows the date you'd reach it and tells you if the pace is faster than recommended.
Targets for a single day
Any day can have its own target, for example more carbs before a hard session or a recovery day after. Set one from the ⋯ menu on Home's nutrition card, or apply one Coach suggests. Only that day changes; your standing targets stay as they are.
Staying calibrated
About every two weeks, Bene compares what you've actually eaten with how your weight has moved, to estimate what you really burn. If that's clearly different from your target, Coach suggests a new one. You decide whether to apply it.
You can see the estimate yourself on the Calories page in Progress, under Expenditure.
Getting accurate numbers
Good to know
- Log most days, including the messy ones.
- Weigh in regularly, ideally at the same time of day.
- For packaged food, a barcode or label scan is more precise than a meal photo.
